While Mark and I have both touched on the “liminal state” we currently find ourselves in, there is much more still here in addressing the challenges we all face.
We’re all in transit towards something new. While that’s perpetually true—”change is a constant” after all—we’ve always been able to ask someone who has traversed the road we’re on, how best to proceed. Even if we’ve never implemented a new payroll system? Others have. If we’ve never relocated? Others have. If we’ve never been laid off? Others have. The same is true for almost any other change we can think of: Those who went before us, have something to teach us. Even if it’s only a retelling of their failings, we can learn from their experience.
This time? This time it’s different. Nobody knows how this will turn out, and on top of that, we can’t go back. The old normal is no longer accessible. It’s gone. So how do we progress? We all share that question. If we’re responsible for others, the problem is compounded. How do we help others progress, also?
In this session, Peter will offer some suggestions (What else could they be? He hasn’t travelled this road either.) in the form of a Checklist – C.H.A.O.T.I.C. Come to the session to see what’s behind the word. As an exercise for the reader: Take some time before the session to write down your process for coping and progressing.
